Chain Foundation Uganda was started in 2001 by the then Archbishop Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo to bring hope to the visually impaired and vulnerable children stigmatized in society. It is a registered NGO, Since its establishment, the Foundation has gathered up to a total of 106 children (abandoned, orphans, blind and former street children) that it is currently looking after. The Organization has also embarked on a programme of supporting 500 visually impaired and deaf vulnerable children from different family backgrounds and of both sexes. Most of these Children are of school going age, which includes the primary section and secondary section. They are also given regular counseling as a way of rehabilitating and making them responsible citizens.
While working with orphans and vulnerable children, Chain Foundation puts more emphasis on their well-being. These include Spiritual Aspects, Physical/Health Aspects, Educational Aspects and Livelihood Aspects.
The Chain Foundation activities are overseen by the Board which meets regularly to review its activities. The day to day running of the programme is done by the programme coordinator and six other staff and volunteers.
